North Cross Alumni Association
Athletic Hall of Fame
Adopted April 24, 2019
The North Cross Alumni Association ("Alumni Association") Athletic Hall of Fame (herein referred to as the "HOF") is hereby established for the purpose of recognizing individual athletes, teams, and coaches that have excelled in interscholastic sports on behalf of North Cross School.
Eligibility for the HOF shall be open and restricted to men and women that participated in varsity interscholastic sports of North Cross School (hereinafter referred to as " NCS Interscholastic Sports"). Organized athletic clubs affiliated with North Cross School but not offical scholastic teams are not eligible for the HOF. As defined herein, NCS Interscholastic Sports shall include without limitation varsity individual sports, such as swimming, tennis, and golf, as well as varsity team sports such as basketball, volleyball, field hockey, soccer, and football that are contested as organized events against other similar secondary schools.
To be eligible for the HOF, candidates must have a) graduated from North Cross School; b) participated in one or more NCS Interscholastic Sports for at least two years; and c) been enrolled as a full time student of North Cross School during their athletic career as either a resident citizen of the United States of America or enrolled under an approved F-1 student VISA.
Eligibility for the HOF for individual candidates shall be deferred until four years after graduation. After this four year deferment period, there shall be no age or time restriction on individual or team eligibility. It is the hope and goal of the Alumni Association that alumni from from every decade shall be represented in the HOF.
Participation in organized sports after graduation from North Cross School shall neither be a requirement nor factor in determining eligibility for the HOF. The emphasis and intent is to recognize accomplishments in NCS Interscholastic Sports.
Individual athletes may be inducted into the HOF based on their accomplishments in a single NCS Interscholastic Sport or multiple sports; provided however, that an athlete may only be inducted into the HOF once as an individual and any number of times as a member of a team.
Individuals currently serving as voting members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors shall not be eligible for the HOF; provided however, that they shall be eligible prior to and immediately after their service on the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Entire NCS Interscholastic Sports teams shall be eligible for induction into the HOF. Without limiting or specifying the requirements for induction, such teams may, as an example, have won conference titles or achieved superior overall records that are worthy of recognition.
Eligible teams shall include only those teams that compete for a single season with a set roster of participants. Teams that span multiple seasons with overlapping rosters shall not be eligible.
Eligibility for the HOF for teams shall be deferred until four years after the conclusion of the academic year in which the team competed. After this four year deferment period, there shall be no time restriction on team eligibility. It is the hope and goal of the Alumni Association that teams from from every decade shall be represented in the HOF.
In cases where an entire team is inducted, the honor shall be given to the team and not each individual athlete; provided however, that each athlete on the team, along with the coaches, shall be individually recognized as a participant.
Coaches shall be eligible for the HOF based on their contributions and impact in one or more NCS Interscholastic Sports. Such accomplishments may be defined in terms of their win/loss record, their years of service and dedication to North Cross School athletic programs, their perceived impact on the lives of student athletes, or any combination of such factors. The primary emphasis of evaluating coaching candidates for the HOF shall be their overall career accomplishments and not their accomplishments in any particular season.
Nominations for induction into the HOF shall be accepted at any time during the year; provided however, that the deadline for consideration in any given calendar year shall be 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time on August 31. Nominations received after this date and time shall be evaluated and considered for the next Class Year (as hereinafter defined).
All nominations must have a single primary sponsor and at least two secondary sponsors.
All primary and secondary sponsors must be graduates of North Cross School with direct personal knowledge of the nominee.
A person shall not be allowed to nominate or sponsor themselves; provided however, that they shall be allowed to sponsor a team that they played on.
Current voting members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors shall not be allowed to be the primary sponsor of a candidate.
Information submitted to nominate individual athletes must include the candidate's a) full name, b) gender, c) graduation year, d) email address, e) telephone number, f) the sport(s) played, and g) a narrative of why the individual should be considered for induction into the HOF. Any additional information that the sponsors believe would help the Alumni Association in its evaluation of the candidate shall be welcomed.
Information submitted to nominate entire teams must include a) the sport, b) the year the team's season began, and c) a narrative of why the team should be considered for induction into the HOF. The sponsors should provide as complete a list as possible of the names of the individual athletes on the team. Any additional information that the sponsors believe would help the Alumni Association in its evaluation of the candidate shall be welcomed.
Information submitted to nominate coaches must include the candidate's a) full name and b) a narrative of why the candidate should be considered for induction into the HOF. Any additional information that the sponsors believe would help the Alumni Association in its evaluation of the candidate shall be welcomed.
All nomination submissions must include a) the full name, b) email address, c) telephone number, and d) graduation year of all primary and secondary sponsors.
All nomination submissions must include a representation by all sponsors that a) they have direct personal knowledge of the candidate and b) that all information submitted is true and accurate to the best of their knowledge.
The Alumni Association reserves the right to consult with coaches, classmates, school officials, and any other resources that it deems appropriate to independently investigate and verify information submitted about candidates.
Method of Submission
All nominations shall be submitted on approved online forms that are accessible from hyperlinks on the Alumni page of the North Cross School website (https://www.northcross.org).
Unapproved methods of nomination submissions will not be accepted. Paper documents, emails, texts, photographs and other loose communications will only be accepted when submitted in conjunction with the required online submission form.
All information submitted on the online forms shall be stored in an approved centralized data repository that automatically timestamps all submissions with the actual time of submission. The system used shall allow the Alumni Association to remotely review nominations while preserving the integrity of the original submissions.
Carry Over Nominations
Properly submitted nominations shall be retained and automatically eligible for consideration for three consecutive Class Years following receipt. A nominee may be resubmitted after this three year period.
All submitted information concerning individual nominees shall be kept private and confidential by the Alumni Association. This information shall include, without limitation, the identity of the nominees and all supplemental information collected either in support or opposition to the nomination. The Alumni Association, however, reserves the right to make public aggregate information such as the total number of nominations received, the composition of the nominations, and similar statistical information.
The election of inductees into the HOF shall be done on an annual basis. Each annual election shall be referred to as the "Class Year", which shall correspond to the year in which honorees are formally inducted into the HOF at the Awards Banquet (as defined below).
No more than six nominees, including not more than one coach, shall be inducted into the HOF in any Class Year.
The Alumni Association shall be under no obligation to elect any inductees in any Class Year. Election to the HOF shall be based on merit and each nominee shall be evaluated individually.
The Board of Directors of the Alumni Association (the "Alumni Board") is hereby appointed the exclusive agent of the Alumni Association to act under this Charter with all of the vested powers necessary to administer and maintain the HOF.
The Alumni Board shall vote to elect inductees into the HOF at its regularly schedued October meeting based on the nominations on hand by the preceding August 31 deadline.
The right and responsibility to evaluate and elect nominees into the HOF shall reside exclusively with the Alumni Board.
The Alumni Board shall undertake such investigative efforts as it deems necessary and appropriate to evaluate the worthiness of each and every nominee. It shall be the responsibility of the Alumni Board to preserve the reputation and integrity of the HOF and its honorees.
The Alumni Board shall use whatever process it deems appropriate to narrow the list of prospective nominees to a final list that will be put to a final vote.
The six (6) nominees with the highest number of votes from within the Alumni Board shall be elected and officially announced as the inductees for that Class Year.
The nature of all internal deliberations and details regarding the final election tally results shall be kept private and confidential within the Alumni Board.
Duly elected honorees shall be formally inducted into the HOF at an annual awards banquet to be held each year on the third Saturday of March at a time and place selected by the Alumni Association.
Each inductee shall be presented with a personalized plaque that memoralizes the honor that includes their name, the date of induction, and the sport(s) involved.
The introduction and formal award presentation shall be made by the honoree's primary sponsor. If the primary sponsor cannot be present, then the presentation shall be made by either one of the secondary sponsors or a member of the Alumni Board.
A single additional sponsor, coach, or friend shall be permitted to speak in support of each honoree with their speach lasting no longer than five minutes.
Each individual award recipient, or individual representative from a team, shall be permitted to speak at the award ceremony for not more than five minutes.
All alumni shall be invited to the award banquet with a fee charged to cover all costs incurred. The award banquet shall be organized and managed to encourage maximum participation but avoid any subsidies by either North Cross School or the Alumni Assocation.
A list of all inductees, together with a brief biographical profile of each honoree, shall appear on the primary web site of either North Cross School or the North Cross Alumni Association.
On Campus Recognition
An engraved walkway paver shall be placed in a suitable walkway or common area of the North Cross School campus in honor of each inductee. Each such paver shall include, at a minimum, the name of the honoree and an indication that they are a member of the HOF.

This Charter may be amended from time to time by the Alumni Board. Any such approved changes to this Charter shall supercede and replace all previous versions.
The Alumni Board shall have the exclusive authority to make any changes as contemplated herein.
Any modification shall be made upon the affirmative vote of a majority of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association as provided in its Amended and Restated By Laws."
